Amid the advisories, a message has gone viral on WhatsApp claiming that ATMs across India will be shut down for two to three days. The message urged Netizens to withdraw cash in advance. Fact check: this is not true.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has taken to its official X (formerly Twitter) handle to debunk these claims and call out the false messaging. The tweet by PIB stated this message to be “fake” and reassured citizens that ATMs will operate as usual. Moreover, it warned citizens to not forward unverified messages to their contacts.
