Pune International Airport will expand its flight operations by introducing 15 new flights, increasing the total from 220 to 235. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol announced this on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday. As more passengers demanded additional flight slots, Murlidhar Mohol approached and requested the Indian Air Force, since it also controls part of the airport, to allow the expansion and the introduction of new flights. Accepting the request, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh issued a press release and formal letter approving 15 additional flights between 6 am and 10:29 pm.
Murlidhar Mohol shared this news on his X account with the caption, “Big relief for Pune flyers! With the cooperation of the IAF, 15 more civil flight slots have been added during peak hours at Pune International Airport, raising daily movements from 220 to 235. This is our dedicated step to ensure faster and smoother journeys for you. Happy Flying Punekars!” This decision comes after many airlines and passengers requested additional civil flights to make travel easier.
New Routes And Better Connectivity For Travellers
According to The Indian Express, these 15 new flights will ease travel for passengers, especially with the rising demand for both domestic and international routes from Pune Airport. Along with new routes, these new slots will increase direct connecting flights to Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. Passengers will be able to conveniently book their flights even during morning or peak evening hours. Students, frequent travellers and even IT professionals would be able to benefit from these new flight slots.
The addition of 15 new civil flight slots brings much-needed flexibility for passengers. Travellers will find it easier to book flights during peak times. This might also improve the overall travel experience at Pune International Airport.
