Fiji Starts Visa-On-Arrival For Indians; Aims To Increase Indian Tourist Footfall By 5%

Fiji, the South Pacific Island nation has now started Visa-on-Arrival for Indians with the aim of increasing Indian tourist footfall by 5 to 7 per cent. The island nation has started marketing campaigns and leveraged digital platforms to attract family travellers and honeymooners from India.

Indian Travellers Can Get Visa-on-Arrival In Fiji

According to a report by Economic Times, Tourism Fiji Executive Director of Regions Robert Thompson threw more light on this manner. Thompson stated that Fiji has a special focus on attracting tourists from India from various segments. This includes honeymoon, eco-tourism, sustainable, multi-generational families and wellness travel.

He further informs that Indian arrivals to Fiji in 2023 reached pre-COVID numbers of 2019. This proves Indians have an increased appetite for experience-led and premium travel. Thompson also stated that in December 2023, they witnessed the highest number of Indian arrivals in Fiji. There was a 300 per cent Indian crease in Indian tourist arrivals than that in December 2022. Also, the average length of stay of an Indian tourist in Fiji is around 7.6 nights.

While there are no direct flights between India and Fiji, one can find connecting flights from nations like Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, on multiple flights. Moreover, Fiji provides visa-on-arrival for Indian passport holders. Fiji is already expecting a 5 to 7 per cent rise in tourist footfalls from India in 2024. Creating a strong brand presence to reach a wider audience is what they are working on.

Thompson stated that Tourism Fiji has a telos to appeal to Indian tourists who are seeking a relaxing and picturesque getaway. For this, the tourism board will showcase its crystal-clear waters, lush tropical landscapes and pristine beaches. It’s a perfect tropical getaway for water sports, hiking, diving, and premium luxury experiences. The archipelago of over 300 islands is known for its rugged landscapes, palm-fringed beaches and coral reefs with lagoons.
