While specialty brews and artisanal coffee houses are enjoying their moment. What remains ever in demand, ever loved, and simple comfort is the humble filter kaapi, a lifeline of cities like Bengaluru and Chennai. So, what if filter coffee meets Indian classical music to give way to a cafe that eats, breathes and lives culture and heritage? That’s an idea brewing in the mind of ex-Google MD Parminder Singh.
Parminder Singh Pitches ‘Sitarbucks’ Where Sitar Meets Filter Coffee
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Parminder Singh made pitched an idea. He revealed retrospectively that one day he’d open a cosy spot serving filter coffee, playing soothing Indian classical tunes and name the place, ‘Sitarbucks’. A play on the American coffee giant’s monicker ‘Starbucks’, Parminder Singh’s ‘Sitarbucks’ would be an attempt to let folks find comfort in the familiar, filter kaapi, a rich, South Indian beverage known for its frothy foam lacing a cup of darkly roasted coffee.
Since the idea has earned the internet’s seal of approval, unsurprisingly, we now have an AI-imagined design concept!

While sipping the aromatic brew, soothing Indian classical music will add to the ambience, inviting the senses to take it slow down, savour every sip, every note (of the coffee and the raagas). His cafe pitch instantly won the hearts of Netizens, garnering over 200 comments, 4000 likes and about 249 reposts.
Witnessing the excitement of Netizens, Parminder Singh went one step further in his subsequent post. He stated that since ‘Sitarbucks’ has earned the internet’s seal of approval, his idea has now been backed with an AI-imagined concept. Parminder draws inspiration from Hard Rock Cafe, famous for its guitar showcases by legends like Prince, Jimmy Page and Clapton. He visualises ‘Sitarbucks’ to be a cafe that proudly displays sitars strummed by Pt. Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar and Ustad Vilayat Khan.

Netizens Approve This Idea That Has Legs
The AI picture shows a cafe with earthy notes, with sitars adorning the walls. Filter coffee is freshly brewed and served at the counter. Customers are seen happily sipping their cups of brews while peacefully soaking in the tranquil vibes of the cafe. The wooden tables and chairs, the yellow lamps, add to the aesthetics, rooted in simplicity and culture. Parminder Singh realistically pointed out that the proposed brand name ‘Sitarbucks’ may attract copyright hurdles.
