Among other things, Delhi’s Ashram Flyover was one of the most awaited ones. This new flyover of more than one-kilometre stretch will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal today. Though this project was started in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and other conditions made it difficult to continue the work. The flyover is supposed to reduce traffic at three intersections — Ring Road-DND junction, Maharani Bagh intersection and Ring Road loop. Here are the inauguration details of the Ashram Flyover and the traffic advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police.
Inauguration Of Delhi’s Ashram Flyover
The construction of this new flyover had to overcome obstacles — first COVID-19 and second rising air pollution in the city. According to the Public Works Department, the flyover will be open for public use after the Chief Minister inaugurates it. The inauguration ceremony will be held around noon and the flyover will be open to the public at 5:00 pm. This is a very important and necessary infrastructural update that people needed. It is supposed to reduce the travel time from Noida to Delhi and will make vehicle movement smoother. Between Ashram Chowk and Delhi Noida Direct Flyway, there are three traffic signals that this flyover will cover.

Traffic Advisory For Commuters
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued guidelines for commuters to follow. Firstly, commuters who have light vehicles and are travelling from Delhi Noida Direct Flyway going to Gurugram, Kalkaji, Greater Kailash, Saket, and Safdarjung are advised to take the Ashram Flyover instead of Barapullah Flyover. Secondly, heavy vehicles like buses, trucks, etc are still not allowed to take the flyover. Thirdly, people are supposed to pay heed to these travel advisories in order to avoid inconvenience.
Currently, commuters travelling from Ghaziabad and Noida to South Delhi have to face heavy traffic congestion from DND to Ashram Chowk. But this new construction will make sure that they have a smooth travel experience. Interestingly, the Ashram Chowk experiences heavy traffic during the non-peak hours as well.
