For the eighth straight year, Finland has bagged the top spot in the World Happiness Report. Finland Is The World’s Happiest Country Again
In 2012, the United Nations General Assembly deemed Mach 20 as the International Day of Happiness and since then, it has been celebrated throughout the world. Not so surprisingly, Finland emerged as the happiest country for 2025, for the eighth consecutive time. Furthermore, Nordic countries continued to dominate the top positions as well. India made some improvement in its happiness quotient this year. Its ranking is up from 126 in 2024 to 118 this year.
According to the Economic Times, World Happiness Report rankings are determined through self-evaluation surveys. Individuals rate their own lives in the survey and researchers at the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, alongside Gallup and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, study and evaluate the survey results. Reportedly, basic factors like shared meals, reliable social support, and household composition significantly influence happiness levels and Finland secured the top spot.
