As the world is digesting the news of the wildlife in Los Angeles that has claimed 16 lives and destroyed over 12,000 properties, residents of Thane woke up to a fire on Sunday. A five-storey building in the region’s Wagle Estate was engulfed in a blaze putting the lives of its 250 residents in danger.
Thane Building Catches Fire; 250 Residents Evacuated
A report by The Times Of India stated that a five-storey building in Wagle Estate in Thane, Mumbai, caught fire on Sunday, January 12. The fire broke out in the wee hours of the morning at 5 AM. A laundry shop on the ground floor of the 5-storey building in Srinagar caught fire. The head of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell, Yasin Tadvi reported to TOI.
Firefighters responded instantly and extinguished the fire within an hour. All 250 residents of the apartment were safely evacuated. There were no casualties or injuries reported as the fire was contained and the residents were evacuated on time. Once the fire was properly extinguished, residents were allowed to return to their apartment. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire
Gowdown Housing Paper Materials Caught Fire On Friday
Earlier, on Friday, a massive fire engulfed temporary godowns in Bhiwandi town of Thane district. The godown housed paper rolls and storing scrap material which were gutted due to the fire at 4 PM. Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the accident as the firefighting team were able to tackle the flames 0n time. The fire had spread rapidly due to the large quantity of paper rolls and scrap located at the site.
The firefighting department worked hard throughout the night to extinguish the blaze, marking it as a particularly challenging operation. Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation dispatched three fire engines to put out the flames. After meticulously completing the task for hours, the fire was extinguished.
