Fresh Flood Warning In Texas Halts Search Operations
Texas faced a deadly flood on July 4, which killed at least 129 people and left over 170 missing. Now, according to a report in HT, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued fresh flood warnings for Texas on Sunday. This is the first time a new warning for turbulent weather condition has been issued since the flooding earlier this month. A user on X, @RyanAFournier, also posted a video on their account showing the rising level of water in the Kerr County area of Texas.
Rescue operations along the Guadalupe River have now been paused. Emergency crews were carrying out search operations for people who went missing in the July 4 floods. According to the report, the NWS noted that the Llano River levels are rapidly rising, prompting alerts across multiple counties, including San Saba, Burnet, Llano, Menard, Gillespie and Kerr. Officials have now ordered search crews to evacuate the Guadalupe River corridor in Kerr County until further notice.

Guadalupe River May Rise Again
As per HT, the Guadalupe River could rise to nearly 15 feet, about 5 feet above the flood stage. The weather warning also stated that the flash flood risk is likely to continue in the Texas Hill Country. The magnitude has lowered, but some localised and significant impacts are still possible.
We should also tell you that a massive flood wave hit Kerr County on July 4, when water surged down the Guadalupe River in the early morning hours. The disaster was attributed to extreme rainfall and climate change. It led to several deaths and people going missing. Search and rescue operations were still underway, but the area now faces the risk of further flooding due to continued rainfall in the region.
