Flight operations at West Bengal’s KNI Airport were temporarily suspended on Friday due to waterlogging in and around the airport premises. According to The New Indian Express, the waterlogging was caused due to continuous and heavy overnight rainfall. The area, reportedly, recorded 192 mm of rainfall.

About three flights to and from the airport were cancelled on Friday. This included one flight from New Delhi and another from Bengaluru. The airport authorities assured that the passengers were informed well in advance about this problem to minimise their inconvenience, The New Indian Express reported.

Due to incessant overnight rainfall, several places at the approach road to the airport from the highway were flooded. The heavy downpours also caused water to gush into the airport premises which caused the water logging issues in several operational areas. There has been no update on when the flight operations will resume at this airport yet.
