Several international and domestic airlines operate in India. This long list of airline companies will be joined by another airline company — Fly91! Manoj Chacko, a veteran of the travel industry, will launch this airline company. According to the reports, the Aviation Ministry issued a ‘no-objection certificate’ to the airline, and it is ready to take off! Here’s everything you need to know about Fly91.
Fly91: India’s New Airline
The Fly91 airline was founded by Manoj Chacko with Convergent Finance LLP. It is a regional airline based in Panaji. Once it receives the DGCA licence, the airline will start operating in October. In fact, by the end of this year, they are planning to have six planes in their fleet! In addition to this, the plan is to have around 40 planes in the next five years, by adding six to seven ATRs annually.

Manoj Chacko’s Views On This New Airline
Manoj Chacko told TOI that they are planning to launch the airline in October, depending on the clearance. According to him, a 45 to 90 minutes journey on ATRs is comfortable. And they are looking to connect Goa with cities that cannot accommodate bigger planes and where there is no adequate demand. They include Kolhapur, Sholapur, Hubli, Nasik, and Mysore.
Additionally, he stated that it will be a low-cost structure and will have a single fleet. Though they won’t have luxury, they will provide good value products and leverage digitalisation. Also, you can buy meals and beverages on board.
The aircraft will be ATR 72 which is a twin-engine turboprop, short-haul regional airliner. It was produced in France and Italy. The term “72” refers to the customary basic seating capacity of 72 passengers for the aircraft.
The airline now needs a DGCA licence before it can start operations, in addition to other requirements like security clearance for its directors, after receiving the ministry NOC. Normally, this process takes three to four months. India will have a new airline during the next holiday season if the necessary approvals are promptly granted.
