Nothing riles up Indians more than someone messing with their beloved recipes! Recently, food vlogger Sam Jose attempted to make gulab jamun, no harm there. But what truly set desi netizens off was when he cracked eggs into the dough. As expected, the internet did not hold back, with reactions pouring in from outraged to outright hilarious.
Food Vlogger Makes Gulab Jamun With Eggs
Food vlogger Sam Jose has a series on Instagram where he tries desserts from different countries until he “finds one he could eat every night.” In the past, he has tried making tiramisu, mochi, macarons, mango sticky rice, and more. Recently, he tried making gulab jamun from India, and he triggered a lot of people! No, it wasn’t the choice of dessert that triggered them, but rather the use of egg while preparing the dough that left many people flabbergasted.
In the video, he can be seen adding a bunch of ingredients, along with two eggs, to prepare the dough for the gulab jamun. He then deep-fries the round balls and lets them cool down to prepare the sweet syrup. After the syrup is prepared, he pokes holes in the fried gulab jamun and lets them sit in the syrup for some time. He goes on to garnish them with chopped nuts and gives them a straight 10/10 for presentation. On the taste scale, however, he rates the disaster dessert a 6/10.

Desi Netizens React To The Recipe
Now, you can only imagine how triggered desi netizens would be after seeing their beloved gulab jamuns being prepared with eggs! While many were straight-up offended, others went as far as sharing the actual recipe to make sure Sam doesn’t mess up the dessert again.
“Who gives these white men Indian food recipes?” one of the netizens asked.
Another one commented, “It’s 6/10 because you didn’t cook it authentically. Buy them from an Indian store and it’s 10000/10.”
“Too chewy for gulab jamun, and it’s obviously not made with eggs. Authentic gulab jamun is made of mawa alone, which is solidified milk. Milk powder makes it powdery, and flour too,” one of the comments read.
“Foreigners have to understand this….that egg is not required in each and every dish,” another netizen commented.
Making sure he doesn’t forget again, many comments emphasised, “YOU. DON’T. ADD. EGGS. IN. GULAB. JAMUN.”
Oh, we need to wash away this blasphemy with a round of real gulab jamuns, no eggs involved!
