The bakery is an ideal blend of minimalist aesthetic and authentic bites. The cafe offers a range of traditional Japanese breads and pastries that are light, delicate, and beautifully balanced in flavour. From cream puffs to different kinds of pans like curry pans, custard pans and others, every item on the menu reflects attention to detail.
The Vision Behind IKOI
As mentioned on the cafe’s official site, IKOI was born from the love story of its founder, Sara, and Nitin. Sara and Nitin are two people hailing from different countries and cultures who met in college and instantly connected. Sara, originally from Japan, fell in love with not only Nitin but also with the vibrant life of India. Their common love language? Food, which becomes their way of expressing love and creativity.
Sara’s love for trying baking led her to create some of the best items, like matcha rolls and mochi-filled buns. The immense love and appreciation for the creation from friends and family made both Sara and Nitin realise that this hobby could be something bigger.
‘Ikoi’ in Japanese means ‘gather’, and the founders believe it’s their soul. The cafe is not just a place but a cultural bridge, a flavour playground and a warm hug in edible form.
