India’s cafe culture is evolving very fast, and people are absolutely loving creative drinks. Not just coffees and lattes, but people are also loving other inventive drinks like Matcha and Ube, and these two flavours have just hit breakout on Google Search! Here’s what this means and which cities are curious about these drinks these days.

Matcha Is Taking Over India’s Cafe Menus

Going to a cafe and ordering a pleasing-looking drink is not just about taste and hobby. It’s a whole aesthetic, which has now turned into a lifestyle. Cappuccinos and lattes are great, but it seems like these drinks have taken a back seat for now as the craze for Matcha, Ube and Hojicha has taken over. People’s curiosity has made them search for these drinks on Google.

Today, Matcha is slowly moving from cafe menus to an everyday home ritual. The question “how to make Matcha” surged 1300% in the past year on Google Search in India. Search for Matcha peaked in mid-2025, but the curiosity still remains high. People are also searching for fun combinations and at-home kits. Many of them are also typing “what does Matcha taste like” on Google Search.

Surprisingly, there is also a rising interest in summer favourites like “Mango Matcha” (+200%) and “Strawberry Matcha” (+400% this summer). Drinks like Dirty Matcha and Coconut Matcha are also breakout queries on Google, which means the queries saw over 5000% growth in the search bar.

Ube And Hojicha Are Also Gaining Popularity

Not just Matcha, but searches for Ube and Hojicha have also reached all-time highs this year. Searches for Ube, the aesthetic purple drink, reached an all-time high in August 2026. Surprisingly, consumers are getting highly creative, making ‘Ube Matcha’ a major breakout search of the month.

Hojicha, a traditional Japanese green tea, also hit its own all-time high search peak in March 2026, with breakout queries including “Hojicha vs Matcha”, “what is Hojicha” and “Hojicha Latte”. But what is most surprising is that it’s not just Mumbai and Bengaluru driving these searches. Telangana is leading the Ube trend, while people in Delhi are more curious about Hojicha. Goa and Chandigarh are the top places showing interest in Matcha.

Apart from this, people have also been searching for “Matcha candles”, “Matcha face wash”, “Matcha perfume”, “Ube dessert” and more.
