Food fusion experiments don’t always go well, especially when Indian dishes meet global cuisines. But this one has left both us and the internet pleasantly surprised. An Australian blogger has created a recipe that combines gulab jamun and a croissant, and for once, it actually doesn’t look disappointing.
Creator Makes Gulab Jamun Croissant
Food blogger Joe the Tourier (@joethetourier) is known for sharing creative recipes that fuse pastries with global flavours, and his latest creation has the internet in awe. He recently posted a delicious-looking gulab jamun croissant, and surprisingly, people aren’t complaining.
He begins the video with a simple question, “What if gulab jamun and a croissant had a baby?” What follows is exactly that, a croissant-shaped dessert made using croissant dough, but prepared in the style of gulab jamun. Instead of baking it, he deep-fries the pastry and then soaks it in a sugar syrup infused with elaichi and kesar.
The result? A French pastry that, when cut open, has the same soft, juicy texture as gulab jamun, making it almost impossible to resist. In the caption, he wrote, “This is one of my favourite Indian desserts. This would go great with ice cream!”
