We all wish to experience snowfall in Kashmir while sipping on some delicious and piping hot kahwah. However, the reality can be a bit more harsh than we’d like! Traffic jams, road blockages, and even water scarcity are something people have to face when visiting Kashmir in winter. A travel blogging couple recently shared their experience and the challenges they had to face when visiting the beautiful place. Scroll on to know more.
Travel Blogger Couple Share Challenges Faced In Kashmir During Snowfall
Kashmir is a paradise, especially during the winter. That’s why many tourists head there to experience the beauty of the place, especially during snowfall. However, the surge in traffic coupled with snowfall ends up causing more trouble. And vlogger couple Manisha Dimri and Shivam Chugh, @twopassportss, gave us an insight into this with their recent Instagram story.
Manisha and Shivam document their travels and share tips with their followers on Instagram. Currently, they are in Kashmir and before they urged more people to travel there, they wanted to issue a word of caution. Sharing a video featuring snow-covered cars in traffic, they said that they were stuck in Gulmarg for hours.
Eventually, they had to take a local vehicle to Tangmarg and get their car towed by locals the next day. This ended up hurting their wallet quite significantly. They paid ₹3,500 (12 km) for their travel and another ₹9,000 to get the car towed! They left Gulmarg around 4 PM and reached their next destination, about 12 km away, at 6 AM the next morning. Imagine travelling for 14 hours to cover a distance of 12 km! So, while Kashmir is a beauty, travelling there can be quite challenging.
Advice For Those Travelling With Kids Or People With Health Issues
Manisha and Shivam further shared that during snowfall, issues like roadblocks, power outages, and water shortages are quite common in the mountains and Kashmir is no exception. This, of course, ends up disrupting one’s schedule and budget, so they advise people to plan accordingly.
According to them, if you’re travelling with kids or people with some health issues, make sure you have an alternative plan at all times! If you’re planning to head to Gulmarg and Sonmarg, they suggest checking the weather forecast well in advance. Also, they suggest staying in Srinagar if it starts snowing.
These are advice and information shared by Manisha and Shivam with their personal experience. So, if you’re planning a similar trip to witness the beauty of Kashmir soon, do keep these things in mind to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience.
