If you happened to stop by any of the bus stops in Jumeira, you might have noticed something new and cool. Brand Dubai in partnership with Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a series of public art installations in Jumeira. The project is part of the second phase of the Jumeira Project, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai. Designed by international artists, the initiative is part of a brand identity campaign that aims to turn the Dubai neighbourhood into a cultural hub.

International Artists Transform Jumeira Bus Stand Into Art Gallery
The initiative was first launched in 2018, and featured 23 murals along Jumeirah Road from the Dubai Canal to Burj Al Arab. The second phase now includes installations, stretches from the Dubai Canal to Jumeirah Al Naseem, adding colour and design to the neighbourhood.
A series of cool artworks have grabbed the attention of commuters. Some of the art installations include a Pink Flamingo inspired by colourful floaties commonly found in small shops, jellyfish- abundantly found in Jumeirah beaches during summer, colourful chicks, a cassette player and a Teela, and a glass ball -similar to a marble used by Emirati children to play a popular traditional game.
Also displayed are artworks featuring coffee cups, a ‘paper’ boat, and robots made using metal cans that honour Dubai’s heritage and celebrate its vision for the future. The art installations will be a permanent addition to the bus stops.

The new initiative is the result of a joint venture between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Brand Dubai. Brand Dubai is the creative arm of Government of Dubai Media Office. The team develops initiatives aimed at enhancing the look and feel of Dubai. The new initiative is part of the #DubaiSpeaksToYou project- an effort to transform the city’s streets into a palette of colors with vibrant art work.
Quirky animations like an ice cream stick, an Emirati man and Russian dolls, are some of the art works will encounter. Besides, the RTA recently painted all the parking meters in blue, depicting the various mobility modes in the city.
