A proud moment for India! Jahnavi Dangeti, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, has become the first Indian to complete NASA’s International Air and Space Program. A STEM advocate and an analog astronaut, she is all set to travel to space in 2029.

As per India Today, Jahnavi from Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district has become the first Indian to complete NASA’s International Air and Space Program. A graduate in electronics and communication engineering, Jahnavi is now all set to travel to space in 2029. According to the report, Jahnavi has been selected to travel to the Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station.

It is a US-based project expected to launch in the next 4 years. Jahnavi Dangeti also shared this news on her official Instagram handle with the caption, “As a kid who believed that the Moon followed me, I didn’t know it was leading me here. Today, that childhood wonder becomes a part of my reality”.

After completing her schooling in her hometown of Palakollu, Jahnavi went on to pursue her undergraduate studies at Lovely Professional University in Punjab. Reportedly, her parents, Srinivas and Padmasri, are currently working in Kuwait.

Youngest Analog Astronaut From India

As per the India Today report, Jahnavi is actively involved in STEM education and space outreach. She has delivered talks for ISRO’s educational programs and addressed students at National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across India. 

She is also quite active in analog missions, deep-sea diving, and international conferences related to planetary science and space travel. Her contribution to the International Astronomical Search Collaboration even led to an asteroid discovery based on the data of the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS). Not only that, she was also the youngest foreign analog astronaut and the first Indian chosen for Space Iceland’s geology training.

Among her many achievements, she has received several awards, including the People’s Choice Award at the NASA Space Apps Challenge and ISRO’s World Space Week Young Achiever Award. Over the next 3 years, starting from 2026, she will receive intensive astronaut training. It will include spacecraft procedures, survival training, as well as medical and psychological evaluations.

This new milestone, where she will travel to space, is another feather in her cap and a moment of pride for the entire nation.
