From Arunachal’s Kibitho To Rakchham In Himachal, Tourism Ministry To Focus On 57 Destinations As Part Of Swadesh Darshan 2.0

It looks like the Tourism Ministry has increased its focus on developing domestic tourism in India. According to the latest reports, under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture has selected 57 tourism destinations for development. They have selected these destinations located in different states across the country. Read on to know more about this.

Tourism Ministry Selects 57 Destinations For Swadesh Darshan 2.0

Union Minister of Tourism & Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has stated that the ministry has selected 57 tourism destinations for development under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0. He mentioned this development in the upper house recently when asked about the revised Swadesh Darshan scheme.

For Swadesh Darshan 2.0, states and union territories have prepared State Perspective Plans to help the Ministry of Tourism select destinations for development in their region. The ministry has sanctioned ₹644 crore to enhance tourism in different states as part of the scheme. Some of these destinations include Kibitho in Arunachal Pradesh, Rakchham and Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh, Gnathang Village in Sikkim, and Jadung and Mana Village in Uttarakhand.

Not just that, according to a report in The Print, the authorities identified 42 destinations under the Challenge-Based Destination Development (CBBD) Scheme. This scheme is a sub-scheme of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and has separate guidelines as well. Furthermore, they identified 11 spiritual places, 10 ecotourism sites and Amrit Dharohar destinations, and 5 villages as Vibrant Villages Programme Destinations to be under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.

Focus On Sustainable & Responsible Tourism Destinations

Tourism & Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also mentioned that the ministry will work to develop sustainable and responsible tourism destinations in India under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0. They have even identified 10 ecotourism sites in the country to begin work under this scheme. As per The Print’s report, they have sanctioned ₹56.81 crore and ₹38 crore for the development of the Bhongir Fort Experiential Zone and Eco-tourism Zone at Ananthagiri Forest, respectively, in Telangana.
