From Bread Pakoda To Vada Pav, Nitin Gadkari Treated Kamiya Jani To A Lavish Maharashtrian Meal

Nitin Gadkari

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, flew to dil waalo ki Dilli to interview Minister Nitin Gadkari for one episode of Sunday Brunch. He currently serves as the Minister for Road Transport & Highways of India. He strategised and aided in the development of expressways and roadways in India. On our episode, we chatted about his love for food, cooking and other fascinating topics while relishing a savoury Maharashtrian meal at his Delhi residence.

Nitin Gadkari And Kamiya Jani Enjoyed A Delish Maharashtrian Meal

We were famished after endlessly talking about the future of EV cars, upcoming expressways and more. So it was time for a lavish brunch session at the Gadkari’s. Nitin, a Maharashtrian residing in Delhi, treated Kamiya, a Sindhi from Mumbai, to a delectable spread of Maharashtrian cuisine!

The dining table was loaded with tasty food items and we couldn’t wait to dig in! After a quick scan, we noticed two Delhi street food dishes. Honestly, as foodies, we love to indulge in the street food of Delhi and Mumbai, so all is well! Now to the food spread, plates of fried crispy green chillies, vada pav, sabudana vada, bread pakoda, aloo sabji, aloo chaat, and various condiments were laid out before us.

As true Maharashtrians, both chose the vada pav as the first snack option. They relished it happily! Mumbaikars know the true feeling of gorging on a soft vada pav after a long day at work. Even though Kamiya dislikes spicy food, she praised the fried crispy chillies paired with vada pav. On the other hand, Nitin Ji was munching on green chillies like it was his favourite thing to do!

Mumbai’s Vada Pav In Delhi?

The taste and authenticity of Delhi’s vada pav is quite a controversial topic. So, Kamiya questioned Nitin Gadkari about his go-to vada pav spot in Delhi when he craves them in Mumbaiya-style. The minister revealed that the Transport Bhawan in the Sansad Marg Area has a new canteen. He told us, “The canteen has Maharashtrian catering which sells Mumbai-style vada pav to Delhi folks!”
