2025 marks a watershed year for Indian infrastructure projects. A number of groundbreaking projects are set to transform the nation’s connectivity landscape. The most significant among these is the historic broad-gauge railway connection to Kashmir. It features the very first cable-stayed railway bridge in India at Anji Khad. The route will debut with a Vande Bharat sleeper service. This will be the first direct rail link between Kashmir and major Indian cities.
Indian Infrastructure Projects To Look Forward To In 2025
In the realm of rapid transit, the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System or the RRTS is poised for full commercial operations. According to an article which was recently published by News18, once started, it will extend beyond the current Ghaziabad-Meerut section.
This development promises swifter and more economical travel options for commuters. The railway infrastructure sees another milestone with the Pamban Bridge. It is India’s pioneering vertical lift railway bridge. It stretches across 2.5 kilometres.
The bridge is replacing a century-old bridge from 1914 and will enhance connectivity to Rameswaram whilst boosting tourism in the region.
From Grounds To The Skies: Aviation And Road Transport Projects
Aviation infrastructure receives a significant boost with two major airports scheduled for April 2025. The Noida International Airport or the NIA in Jewar is designed to serve 12 million passengers annually. The Navi Mumbai International Airport or the NMIA will handle 60 million passengers and 1.5 million tonnes of cargo yearly.
Road connectivity witnessed remarkable progress with the completion of several expressways. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will reduce travel time from five to six hours to merely two-and-a-half hours.
The ambitious Delhi-Mumbai expressway, already India’s longest, continues its expansion. Additionally, the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway, a 262-kilometre project valued at over ₹17,930 crore, will enhance connectivity across three states: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
These developments collectively represent a substantial leap forward in India’s infrastructure modernisation efforts, promising improved connectivity and economic growth across the nation.
