We are not generalising, but, more often than not, foreign tourists in India tend to restrict themselves to dishes like butter chicken, biryani, and samosas when exploring local flavours. Well, not this one! We stumbled upon a Scotland-based digital creator exploring the streets of India like a local and trying out some of the best Indian street food. Scroll on to see what he has tried so far.
Scotland Tourist Tries India’s Famous Street Food
Hugh (@hugh.abroad) is a Scotland-based digital creator who has spent a lot of time travelling around Asia. Currently, he is in India, and he is making the most of his trip by trying out some of the best street food the country has to offer. So far, he has been to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad and is exploring Kolkata right now.
He is exploring the country solo and has made sure to do his research well! He has been sharing his experiences on social media, and netizens are quite impressed with his knowledge of the local food in each city. Not just street food, he also tried McDonald’s India and liked everything he tried there.
Besides food, he also watched a live cricket match between two regional teams at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. Also, when he was in Delhi, he got a head massage and beard shave done by a barber on the pavement.
A Peek Into All The Delicious Things He Tried So Far
Coming to all the Indian street food Hugh has tried in India so far. His journey started in Mumbai, and he tried masala dosa from a street vendor, veg thali at Pancham Puriwala, Irani chai, dahi ke sholey, and more. His next stop was Hyderabad, and he tried boti kebabs, biryani, and many more meaty dishes.
In Delhi, he tried Daulat ki Chaat, the famous Aslam Butter Chicken, Jalebi Rabdri, and a few other dishes. He is currently in Kolkata, the Sweet Capital of India, so he has been trying various desserts in the city. He had misthi doi, sandesh, gulab jamun, rasgulla, and pantua to satiate his sweet tooth.
