India is home to many rivers flowing through differnt villages, cities, and areas. Many riverfronts have been developed beside these rivers and transformed into hangout places for both locals and tourists. Let’s take a look at some of India’s most popular riverfronts.

1. Dravyawati Riverfront, Jaipur

Originating from the western slope of Amber Hills, this river flows through Jaipur. Jaipur Development Authority took the responsibility of working for the rejuvenation of this river and bringing back its pristine form from the dirt water. The total cost of the entire project and maintenance came to ₹1676.93 crore, according to rajasthan.gov.in.

2. Damanganga Riverfront, Silvassa

Nestled on the banks of the Damanganga River, the iconic Damanganga Riverfront is a famous place to explore in Silvassa. This public place is famous as a scenic point in the city overlooking magnificent views of the river. From indulging in exercise in the morning to playing games during the evening, this place organises several events.

3. Gomti Riverfront, Lucknow

One of Lucknow’s famous attractions, Gomti Riverfront is a beautiful place to explore and enjoy nature’s aura. The landscapes surrounding the destination are breathtaking. From lush greenery providing a serene experience to a beautiful park for recreation, spending some time here is an amazing idea.

4. Yamuna Riverfront

Pollution in the Yamuna River has increased horribly. From clouds of toxic foam to piles of garbage, the holy river is polluted and poisoned by industrial waste, sewage, domestic waste, pollutants, and loads of toxic elements.

5. Brahmaputra Riverfront, Guwahati

Guwahati’s famous Brahmaputra Riverfront is located on the south bank of the river. It has only been a few days of inaugurating the place and already thousands of people have visited the place. One of the biggest highlights is the mesmerising views overlooking the 6 km stretch between Rajbhawan to Kamakhya Temple.

Kota’s beautiful tourist attraction is open for visitors now. Known as the world’s first heritage riverfront, the project to develop it is a great step taken to promote tourism in this city in Rajasthan.

7. Jhelum Riverfront, Srinagar

Enjoy a spectacular visual experience from this place in Srinagar. Back in 2023, the Jhelum Riverfront was inaugurated. This major attraction for locals and tourists has separate pathways for cycling and walking, areas for sitting and relaxing, and green spaces.

8. Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad

From beautiful parks to gardens to walkways, the riverfront has been built splendidly. One of the biggest highlights of this hangout location is the perfect spot to watch many bird species.

9. Tawi Riverfront, Jammu

With the goals to boost tourism in Jammu and improve groundwater sources, the project to develop the Tawi Riverfront is going on. The plan is to complete the development in 2 phases.
