From Eggs To Rice, Here’s What Anurag Thakur Can Cook

Curly Tales was in Goa for one Sunday Brunch episode with Anurag Singh Thakur who served as the Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs and Information and Broadcasting. Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, conversed about the magnificent mountains of northern India, politics, travel and more.

What Can Anurag Thakur Cook?

While plates of delectable food were being set up for the brunch session, Kamiya asked Anurag if he was interested in cooking. The minister said that he is great with eggs, tea, rice, and tadke wali dal. He revealed that he can only cook those four items and hasn’t tried his hands at anything else beyond them.

Anurag elaborated on how he learned to cook tasty eggs, tea, rice, and tadke wali dal. He told us that he was associated with sports and required high-protein intake before vigorous practice day and night. On top of that, he was living alone, so lavish meals were not an option. Hence, he taught himself some basic and easy dishes to sustain during those trainings.

This Is Why He Likes Himachal Pradesh’s Babru

While talking about food, Anurag couldn’t help but express his love for Babru, a traditional deep-fried stuffed flatbread from Himachal Pradesh. The stuffings mostly consist of a black gram or urad dal. He said, “Babru is one of the most efficient foods to carry when road-tripping. I only like to pair it with a pickle.”

It is a hassle-free food item for the road and the minister likes to pack tiffins full of babru while travelling. Anurag shared that they stop at a roadside tea stall, order some cups of tea, eat babru with pickle and carry on with their journey. No stress about eating lavish meals or hitting your protein goals—just enjoy your food, as simple as that.

Our guest also shared that he only has a certain period to go to the gym to work out as he is loaded with work, meetings and travel.
