If a national award isn’t the biggest proof of talent and hard work, what is? Bollywood movies showcase numerous actors every year. Skill is the only thing that sets apart award-winning actors like Atul Kulkarni from others. This wonderful actor with many exceptional performances under his belt recently joined us on an exciting Tere Gully Mein episode, and you should watch it right away. From his early days at the National School of Drama to his never-ending love for solo trips, he shared many exciting things with us.

Atul Kulkarni First Decided To Become An Engineer

While indulging in some yummy food and waiting for some more, we dug into Atul Kulkarni’s life as a kid. He shared that he was born in Belgaum and was brought up in Solapur. After completing his 10th standard in Solapur, he shifted to Belgaum for two years of school. Did he decide to pursue acting right out of school? Not really. In fact, he first decided to do engineering in Pune. Atul also jokingly shared that he loved the first-year syllabus so much that he did it three times (or, had to).

Finally, he realised that his heart wasn’t in the course and decided to drop out. Next, he moved back to Solapur for a bachelor’s degree in Arts. And there he discovered his inclination towards acting. When he turned 27, he finally went to the National School of Drama and passed out there when he was 30. Once he had polished his skills, he ended up in Mumbai as a professional actor. That’s quite a journey, isn’t it?

Numerous ace actors from Bollywood are NSD alumni, and we were certainly curious to know which of them were Atul Kulkarni’s peers. He revealed that Adil Hussain and Zakir Hussain were his seniors, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Swanand Kirkire, and Rajpal Yadav were his juniors at the university.

Shedding light on his experience during those three years in Delhi, he shared how that university is another world of acting where you don’t just perform but also talk, read, and think only about acting. According to him, the result of those three years of hard work is the ten years’ worth of experience everyone comes out with. There probably isn’t a better way to put it.
