Countries are built on people, and they are certainly the one aspect that represents the nation. And since it is the most important factor, population studies hold great importance. Ultimately, these studies are used by the government to make plans about health, education, housing, employment, and other such departments. One such similar study was conducted by the United Nations Population Fund listing some countries with populations less than one million. Here are the six countries with population less than 1 million:

1. Dominica
As per the latest reports, the population of this Caribbean island is less than 0.1 million. This 29-mile-long and 16-mile-wide country is really popular for its many natural hot springs and rainforests and attracts a lot of tourism.
2. Grenada
This island country also found a place on this list with less than 0.1 million people. This is a colourful country covered in nutmeg plantations, and it is also known as the Island of Spice.
3. Curacao
Standing second on this list of countries with a population less than 1 million, Curacao’s population is somewhere around 0.2 million. This beautiful country has a lot of beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and colonial architecture.
4. French Guiana
An overseas department of France, French Guiana has a population of around 0.3 million. Located on South America’s north coast, this country is spread over 83,534 sq km of land.

5. French Polynesia
This overseas country of France, French Polynesia, also has a population of around 0.3 million. This country is spread over 2,000 kilometres of area and has 121 islands.
6. Macao
Another entity on the list of countries with a population less than 1 million, Macao, has 0.7 million people. Located on the south coast of China, this place reflects a lot of cultural influences.
7. Comoros
With a population of around 0.9 million, Comoros is an independent country made of three islands at the northern corner of the Mozambique channel of the Indian Ocean.
8. Fiji
Fiji is a South Pacific country with more than 300 islands. With a population of around 0.9 million people, this country is filled with blue seas and white beaches.
Even though these countries are scarcely populated, they are all unique and attract a lot of tourism throughout the year.
