Arunachal Pradesh’s New Tourism Policy With Unique Experiences
Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu has unveiled a new policy to boost tourism in the picturesque northeastern state. With this new tourism policy, the state hopes to give tourists immersive and unique experiences like witnessing the first sunrise of India, kiwi picking, wine making, and more.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the state hopes to invite production houses to shoot films to make the wider audience see the beauty of the place. They also wish to highlight and make people indulge in agricultural experiences, make and taste the region’s popular wines, and also witness the eco-tourism there. That’s not all, to give tourists an authentic experience, the policy also includes initiatives such as the homestay programme. This will give tourists a holistic experience of what life in the valley looks like.
While talking about this new tourism policy in Arunachal Pradesh, CM Pema Khandu said that due to the “sublime natural beauty, diverse tribal cultures, and abundant wildlife” in the state, the place attracts lots of tourists. They now wish to boost tourism in the sector by focusing on these points.

Sustainable Tourism To Safeguard Heritage & Traditions Of Local Communities
While Arunachal Pradesh wishes to empower local communities and boost its economy with the help of this new tourism policy, the authorities also want to safeguard the heritage of the region. The project aims to protect and preserve the natural habitats and rich biodiversity of the state, especially Tawang and West Kameng, with sustainable tourism practices. They have made plans to launch community-based tourism initiatives so the locals can get alternative livelihood opportunities. The idea is to protect the heritage and traditions of Monpa tribes in the state. More details about this are awaited.
