1. Jagannath Temple
The Odia community of Hyderabad constructed the Jagannath Temple, a contemporary temple honouring the Hindu deity Jagannath. The Hyderabad temple is well-known for its yearly Rath Yatra celebration, which is visited by thousands of worshippers and is situated close to Banjara Hills. According to the design, this is a copy of the real Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. The “Shikhara” (the peak/top) of this temple, which is about 70 feet tall, is its most alluring feature.
2. Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple
In Hyderabad, there is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Ashtalakshmi. The temple, which is outside the city, is constructed in the manner of South Indian architecture and features eight representations of Goddess Lakshmi. The temple, which was constructed under the direction of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, was dedicated in April 1996. The Ashtalakshmi temple took design and architectural cues from the one in Chennai. Nevertheless, while the work was underway, various adjustments were made.
3. Birla Temple
The Birla Mandir was built over ten years ago, and Swami Ranganathananda of the Ramakrishna Mission inaugurated it in 1976. The temple was built by the Birla Foundation, which also built several other similar temples known collectively as Birla Mandir around India. The temple displays a fusion of Utkala, Rajasthani, and Dravidian architectural styles. The consorts of Lord Venkateswara, Padmavati, and Andal are kept in separate shrines from the main ones. Various Deva and Devi, including Shiva, Shakti, Ganesh, Hanuman, Brahma, Saraswati, and Lakshmi, have their shrines at the temple.
4. Peddamma Thalli Temple
In Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills neighbourhood is the Hindu temple known as Sri Peddamma Thalli Temple or Peddamma Gudi. It is extremely well-known throughout Bonaalu’s holiday season. Next to the main temple at Peddamma Temple are a few smaller ones. The Naga Devatha temple is the other, and the first is the Lakshmi, Ganapati, and Saraswathi temple. Only coconuts can be offered to the goddess; there are many stores selling them inside the temple.
5. Chilkur Balaji Temple
On the banks of Osman Sagar in Telangana stands the ancient Hindu temple of Lord Balaji known as Chilkur Balaji Temple, often referred to as “Visa Balaji Temple.” It is among the oldest temples in Hyderabad and was constructed by Bhakta Ramadas’ uncles Madanna and Akkanna. This temple does not have a hundi and does not take donations from followers. One of India’s unique temples, it lacks a green channel and VIP privileges. This temple struggled for and was successful in retaining its autonomy. The devotee performs the customary prayers throughout the visit, including 11 circumambulations of the inner shrine, and makes a vow. Devotees then circle the sanctum sanctorum 108 times after their wish has been granted.
6. Balkampet Yellamma Temple
One of the numerous well-known temples in Hyderabad is the Balkampet Yellamma Temple, which dates to the 15th century. The Temple, which is located in Balkampet, a growing suburb of the city, is particularly busy on Sundays and Tuesdays. The Bonalu Jathara ceremonies held here are another reason for its fame. Apart from Ramzan, Bonalu is the most well-liked celebration in Hyderabad. Goddess Yellamma, whose name in Sanskrit literally translates as “mother of the universe,” is the subject of the Balkampet Yellamma Temple.
