When you think about Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, besides abundant natural beauty the only image that pops in one’s head is lots of snow! And it looks like this image is about to become a reality soon. As per the Indian Meteorological Department’s prediction, a heavy snowfall is expected in the upper Himalayan region soon. This will mark the season’s first heavy snowfall in these Northern regions accompanied with scattered rain in other parts of North India. Upper Himalayan Hills To Soon Witness Season’s First Heavy Snowfall
While there has been scattered snowfall in Himalayan states so far, the season’s first heavy snowfall is expected in the region from January 29. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy snowfall is predicted in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh. The snowfall is expected to happen in late January 28 and January 29. The heavy snowfall will be followed by moderate to fairly scattered rainfall and snowfall till February 1.
This snowfall is expected due to a fresh Western Disturbance that is anticipated to affect the Western Himalayan Region from January 28. Also, there is another Western Disturbance that will impact the Western Himalayan region and the neighbouring states from January 31.

Cold Days Ahead For Northern States With Fog & Slight Rain
As per the IMD prediction, there will be dense to very dense fog and severe cold in several Northern states. Scattered rainfall and snowfall is expected over Uttarakhand in the next couple of days. Additionally, light rainfall in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar is expected from January 31 to February 2. Thankfully, there will be respite soon as the weather and the coldwave will gradually improve
