From Kerala Rains To West Bengal Thunderstorms, Here Are Weather Updates From Major Indian States

Most parts of India experienced and still continue to witness the hottest summer season in recent times. While thinking about the weather, all we can say is “Enough is enough”. Now, all we need is heavy rainfall to see a drop in the temperatures and get respite from the terrible heat. Some parts of the country have started to receive rainfall whereas the weather is likely to change in many states. Let’s take a look at the weather updates in India.

Weather Updates In Different Parts of India:

1. Northeast India

In the next few days, several parts of Northeast India are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms. According to the recently released weather bulletin, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura are likely to witness changes in weather and rainfall in different parts. In fact, massive downpours might take place in some areas of Assam and Meghalaya. Sikkim is also expected to receive heavy rainfall from May 19 to 21, as per a report by The Weather Channel.

2. Kerala

Taking to X, Abhijit Modak (कोकण हवामान)🌞🌦️⛈️ (@meet_abhijit) shared weather updates in Kerala.

Many areas of Kerala received massive downpours on Sunday. The weather was so bad that the Meteorological Department issued red and orange alerts in different villages, cities, and districts around the state. In fact, the Idukki District Collector banned travelling during the night hours in hilly places, according to a report by Hindustan Times. The ban has been implemented in this district starting from Sunday. The weather forecast stated heavy rainfall for the next 4-5 days.

3. Weather Updates: West Bengal

Most places in West Bengal are highly likely to receive rainfall on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms already. In most places, the weather has been very cloudy since today morning. Orange alerts have been issued for rainfall, winds, and thunderstorms for Birbhum, East Burdwan, Murshidabad, and Nadia, according to a report by The Indian Express. In fact, the colder places such as Darjeeling and Kalimpong are expecting rainfall and thunderstorms.

4. Mumbai, Maharashtra

After a prediction of thundershowers on Sunday, the weather is likely to be quite humid in Mumbai. As per the forecast, the minimum temperature is likely to be around 28°C and the maximum temperature is expected to be 35°C. For the next few days, there are no expectations for rainfall in the city.

5. Delhi & North Indian States

A harsh heatwave was reported in the national capital and different places in the Northern states of India. With the weather worsening in so many places, the IMD has issued a red alert. Currently, the alert is for Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, and some parts of Rajasthan. Also, the horribly hot weather is expected for the next few days.

6. Weather Updates: Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu

If you have plans to travel to Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu, it is time to either cancel or postpone it. The administration of the Nilgiris district urged travellers to not travel to the mountains from May 18 to 20, if possible, as the weather predictions stated heavy rainfalls.

7. Bihar, Jharkhand & Odisha

Some places in Odisha might see a change in weather as light to moderate rainfall is likely in some places till May 24. Similar weather predictions have been forecasted for Bihar and Jharkhand as well.
