The redevelopment works of the major markets of Delhi were proposed during the Rozgar Budget in the past year. The redevelopment project was not initiated in 2022. Some officials stated that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi did not grant approval to the proposal back then, according to a report by The Indian Express. Though the starting of the revamping project faced some delays in the last year, the project is about to begin soon. Here are all the details of the new development in the markets of the national capital.
Delhi Government Roped In Municipal Corporation of Delhi For Revamping Markets

To start the revamping works of the iconic markets of Delhi, the government decided to join hands with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. MCD is now the executive agency of this massive upcoming project. Under this remodelling project, some of the most bustling and famous markets of the national capital will be getting new changes and modifications. These markets are:
- Kamla Nagar
- Khari Baoli
- Kirti Nagar
- Lajpat Nagar
- Sarojini Nagar

The plans are to reconstruct these popular Delhi markets according to all the necessities and add an exclusive touch. There are expectations that the new additions and changes will make the shopping diaries much better and improved than before.
A High-Level Review Meeting Was Held!
Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi conducted a high-level review meeting on Wednesday. This meeting was chaired by Delhi CM to talk over the plans, assess the progress, and evaluate the development. According to a report by The Print, Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Industries Minister also attended the meeting on Wednesday. There were many government officials to review the proposal and set plans accordingly.

4 out of the 5 above-mentioned markets are coming under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi jurisdiction. New Delhi Municipal Council will be working only to revamp the Sarojini Nagar market.
CM Arvind Kejriwal stated about working with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in this review meeting. Officials shared that some prominent architects are working on designing these Delhi markets.
