From Lion Gate To Fashion Street, 14 Tourist Spots In Mumbai Will Now Have AC Toilets

The need to use toilets deters tourists from street shopping or visiting tourist sites for a long duration. The lack of cleanliness of public toilets often leaves women sceptical about doing touristy things even in major cities. To ensure its tourists feel comfortable and have access to clean toilets while sightseeing in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipality Corporation (BMC) will construct air-conditioned toilets in 14 tourist spots in the city.

BMC To Construct 14 AC Toilets In Popular Tourist Spots In Mumbai

According to a report by Mumbai Live, 14 sites have been selected in Mumbai for constructing the 14 AC toilets. The District Planning Committee (DPDC) will provide the funds for the same and will spend ₹35 crore for the same. BMC have invited tenders for three of these AC toilets which will have all the necessary facilities.

The Guardian minister of Mumbai Deepak Kesarkar recommended constructing toilets at these spots for the convenience of tourists. So, the municipal corporation decided to construct AC toilets with facilities at 14 tourist spots. Tourists from all across India and the globe visit Mumbai for sightseeing and business purposes. From shopping at Fashion Street to visiting Haji Ali Dargah, tourists often have a packed itinerary that many times leave them with no time to visit their hotels for relaxation.

From Lion Gate To Fashion Street, Here’s Where You’ll Find Toilets

The AC toilets will be built in five locations in South Mumbai, three locations in Worli Prabhadevi, two locations in Mahim Dharavi, two locations in Grant Road and one location each in Sion and Byculla areas. To maintain these toilets and encourage tourists to use these facilities, BMC will create ATMs and food stalls.
