Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the US meeting President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. This visit is supposed to be about strengthening India’s ties with the US. On 22nd June, the Prime Minister was hosted by the President at the White House for a State Dinner with other influential people. Here are certain highlights of the White House State Dinner.
The US Marine Band Played ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’ At State Dinner
The White House state dinner was an impressive gathering of several business tycoons and other influential people. An Indian businessman, Anand Mahindra, was among these guests! While keeping his promise to share some glimpses of the State Dinner at the White House, he posted a few videos and pics on Twitter.
In his tweet, Anand Mahindra stated that the State Dinner at the White House in honour of Prime Minister Modi was a pleasant one. Besides the cuisine, Indian music dominated the theme with the US Marine Band playing the famous song by Lata Mangeshkar ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’.
Apart from this, violinist Joshua Bell and the famed A Cappella group from the University of Pennsylvania were the highlighted musical performances!

President’s Toast, Food & Music!
President Joe Biden began the State Dinner with a light-hearted toast. He recalled advice given by his grandfather on raising a toast without alcohol. As per his grandfather, if a person is giving toast without alcohol, then it should be done with the left hand. He further confirmed that he wasn’t kidding about it.
He also mentioned having a great time with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The evening was a symbol of both countries strengthening their ties and relations!
As for the dinner menu, it had delicious vegetarian dishes in honour of the Prime Minister. It included marinated millets, stuffed mushrooms, grilled corn kernel salad and cardamom-infused strawberry shortcake. In fact, the Patel Red Blend 2019 from a Napa Valley winery was served at the dinner! The winery was owned by Raj Patel. In a place dominated by French and Italian brands, Indian wines are a rare site.

The dinner was a pleasant affair and both leaders hoped to have a great relationship with each other!
