Exploring new places, trying out new cuisines, and checking out tourist places are the top priority. What’s not on the list is getting stressed about crowded places and transportation. Now, a new study has revealed 10 such ‘anxiety-inducing’ cities in the world and here’s all about it.

Asian Cities Dominate The List

After evaluating 97,409 reviews of tourist attractions in the world’s 100 most visited cities, a new study by Radical Storage revealed that Tokyo is the world’s most ‘anxiety-inducing’ city. According to Time Out, the luggage storage platform analysed 31 different indicators of anxiety for this study and found that 60% of the anxiety indicators mentioned feeling crowded in Tokyo. Furthermore, 25.2% of reviews mentioned words and phrases related to anxiety in the Japanese capital.

Besides Tokyo, two more Japanese cities were placed in the top spots–Osaka and Kyoto. Time Out’s report listed reasons like overcrowding, confusion about public transport, and ‘busy’ and ‘overwhelming’ places as the main reasons why people felt anxiety in these cities. Shanghai, Beijing, and Phuket were the other Asian cities on the list that made the region dominate the list.

Interestingly, only two European cities made it to the list, despite the massive number of tourists the region welcomes each season. Also, New York emerged as the only US destination on the list.
