He is often referred to as ‘Bhole’ and is shown with a snake around his neck, wearing tiger skin, adorning a crescent moon, and the holy River Ganga flowing from his matted hair. In India, Mahashivratri is celebrated in honour of this Hindu God. And people fast for the whole day and visit his temples to seek blessings. 1. Raveena Tandon

Raveena Tandon celebrated this auspicious day by visiting the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple and Ganga Ghat. She posted pictures on Instagram of her enjoying the evening boat ride, Ganga Aarti, and the beautiful ghats of the River Ganga.

2. Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan loves to visit different places, especially religious sites. While she was shooting for her film, Kedarnath, she visited the popular Kedarnath Mandir and posted the pictures on her Instagram account.

3. Rupali Ganguly

The ‘Anupamaa’ serial star, Rupali Ganguly, is a truly devotional person and believes in the supreme being. She celebrated Mahashivratri with her brother Vijay Ganguly and friend Akanksha Chamola. She has posted no filter images on Instagram and captioned them ‘Jai Mahakaal’.

4. Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan posted a still from his upcoming film ‘Bholaa’ where he is shown performing aarti. He shares his experience while filming the scene and says that there was an unnatural energy force surrounding the place, and everything felt enigmatic. Between the chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’, there was a divine power engulfing him.
