The New York World Wine and Spirits Competition is not merely a gathering of experts. There are entries spanning a wide range of categories, from red and white wines to aged whiskies, tequilas, vodkas, and liqueurs. In winning the “Best Bourbon” prize was the Sherry Cask Finish Bourbon, 15 Stars based out of Bardstown, Kentucky. The 57.5% ABV bottle of the limited release originally sold for $179. It is made up of a mixture of pure bourbons that are 10–13 years old. Additionally, as it opens up in the glass, a cherry cola-like scent is released. Cinnamon, raisins, and plum are all in competition for flavour on the taste.
