Adam Peaty Slams Food Served At Paris 2024 Olympic Village

According to a report by The Telegraph, Adam Peaty raised strong concerns about the quality of food served at the Paris 2024 Olympic Village. He accused the organisers of compromising their services and food served to the athletes under the excuse of “sustainability”. He went on to add to The Telegraph that 800 metres gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson from Britain has been completely avoiding the food at the Olympic Village.

Adam Peaty stated that while he enjoys eating fish, he has been avoiding consuming seafood at the village. This is because many people found worms in the fish. While the Olympics has set a standard, expecting the best of the best in the world. Peaty says the organisers aren’t feeding them the best. The Paris 2024 organisers on their part completely denied these claims.

Apart from Peaty, many other athletes voiced similar concerns. The British Olympic Association (BOA) established a ‘performance base’ for its athletes at a catering college in Clinchy. Hodgkinson and other British athletes are having their meals there instead. The dishes are prepared by Team GB’s expert chefs. Peaty stated to The Telegraph, that the catering at Paris Olympics 2024 doesn’t meet the standards the athletes are expected to perform at.

Moreover, he called the food served in Tokyo and Rio “incredible”. But this time in Paris, Peaty said there was a lack of protein options and long queues including a 30-minute wait time for food. Despite onboarding Michelin-starred chefs, many athletes complained about being served subpar food apart from shortages. Many are seeking alternatives. The Games’ commitment to not providing AC rooms and curating meals underscoring its sustainability initiative has not gone too well with athletes.
