G20 Delhi: Leaders Relish Lavish Veg Platter; Paneer Lababdar, Kuttu Malpua & More For Dinner

The G20 Summit in Delhi has begun in full swing. A group of 20 leaders from across the world have arrived in Delhi to attend the G20 Summit between 9 to 10 September. US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were some of the delegates who arrived on September 8. To welcome the G20 leaders, there was a lavish vegetarian platter served to them for dinner. What was on the menu? Well, read on to find out.

G20 Delhi: Leaders Welcomed With Lavish Dinner

On September 8, Friday, Prime Minister Modi conducted bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden, Mauritian PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Then, PM Modi and Biden went on to review the progress that happened on the decisions they took during PM Modi’s state visit to Washington in June this year.

The leaders who arrived in Delhi were welcomed with stunning traditional dance performances by various dance troupes. The 2-day summit with a tightly packed agenda has an overall theme —”Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means “the world is one family”.

And with India’s “Atithi Devo Bhava”,”Guest is God” philosophy, the dinner menu for September 8 for the G20 leaders was packed with exquisite Indian dishes from across the country, celebrating millets. The salad menu includes Tossed Indian Green Salad, Chickpea Sundal from Tamil Nadu and Pasta and Grilled Vegetable Salad.

Subz Korma, Paneer Lababdar, Kuttu Malpua & More On Menu

The G20 Summit leaders, sipped a Roasted Almond and Vegetable Broth for the soup course. The vegetarian main course menu includes the UP special Paneer Lababdar and Potato Lyonnais. Andhra Pradesh’s flavoursome Subz Korma, Kaju Matar Makhana and Penne in Arrabiata Sauce were also on the main course menu.

A dinner menu in India is incomplete without a piping hot, comforting bowl of dal, rice and bread basket. So, Jawar Dal Tadka from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab’s Pyaaz Jeera Ki Pulao tickled the taste buds of delegates. The G20 leaders scooped the rich Indian gravies with Tandoori Roti, Kulcha and Butter Naan. For accompaniments, the guests relished mixed pickle, curd, tamarind date chutney and cucumber raita.

The guests ended their meal on a sweet note with the Uttar Pradesh speciality, Kuttu Malpua, made of buckwheat flour and the Odisha special, Kesar Pista Rasmalai. There was also Warm Walnut and Ginger Pudding.
