G20 Summit: Don’t Be Surprised If You See Langur Cutouts In Delhi; It’s To Scare Away Monkeys

In different parts of India, we often see monkeys coming in groups, jumping from one tree to another, breaking things, searching for food, and creating a menace. With the G20 Summit dates coming up soon, concerned authorities are taking major steps for smooth continuation and the New Delhi Municipal Corporation is also taking significant measures in order to scare monkeys away and prevent any unwanted disturbances during the meeting on 9 and 10 September.

NDMC Deployed Langur Cutouts In Delhi To Scare Away Monkeys

Taking to the social media platform X, R. RAJAGOPALAN (@RAJAGOPALAN1951) shared an image of the cutouts of langur positioned in parts of Delhi.

The authorities have already started installing cutouts of langur in several places and crucial points in Delhi. The primary goal of this initiative is to keep all the monkeys away from the venue and nearby during the upcoming G20 Summit hosted at Bharat Mandappam in the ITPO Convention Centre.

New Delhi Municipal Council is working with the Delhi government’s Forest Department to bring the disturbances created by monkeys in control during the 2-day event. They are making the necessary arrangements to scare and drive away monkeys.

A government official shared the locations in Delhi for deploying these langur cutouts strategically. The places are the venue of the G20 Summit, hotels and accommodations of the foreign attendees, Sardar Patel Marg, and more, according to a report by The Free Press Journal.

More Measures Taken To Drive Away Monkeys During G20 Summit

Satish Upadhyay, the vice chairman of New Delhi Municipal Corporation, shared how trained people are going to help to keep the designated locations free from any monkeys. This is another temporary step for the G20 Summit. These people are skilled enough to mimic the voices and sounds of langurs. The plan is that they can help to keep the monkeys away by making noises just like langur. You can get to see these people in the hotels where the guests are going to stay during the meeting. Other locations are the places that are commonly visited by monkeys very often.
