Ganeshotsav: Mumbaikars, Take Note Of These Advisories By Mumbai Traffic Police

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with gusto in the city of Mumbai. In fact, every nook and corner has a pandal set up for the Ganesh idol and several devotees attend it to worship. With the “aagman” to “visarjan”, the roads are always jammed with vehicles. And therefore, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to follow during Ganeshotsav; take note!

Ganeshotsav: Mumbai Traffic Police Advisory

Mumbai police have increased security as they prepare to greet Lord Ganesh with great fanfare. In order to prevent traffic congestion and accidents, the Mumbai Traffic Police issued a warning with several detours and alternative routes.

As per the advisory, the following traffic preparations have been implemented in Mumbai City in order to prevent congestion during the Ganeshotsav celebrations, which take place from September 19 to 29.

South Mumbai:

On September 22, 24, 26, and 29, all big trucks and private buses will be completely prohibited from entering and using the roads in south Mumbai. Other days between September 19 and September 25 will allow heavy vehicles to enter South Mumbai and go there between 12 am and 7 am (IST).

Greater Mumbai:

On September 20, September 23, and September 25, there will be a complete prohibition on all heavy trucks and private buses accessing and using the roads in Greater Mumbai from 11 am to 1 am the following day. Additionally, on September 28 from 10 am to 6 am, heavy trucks are not permitted to enter or travel on roadways in Greater Mumbai.

Heavy vehicles and private buses travelling to and from Mumbai are prohibited from accessing and operating on highways between the hours of 8 am and 11 am and 5 pm and 9 pm between September 19 and 29.

Vegetables, milk, bakery goods, drinking water, petroleum products, ambulances, government and semi-government vehicles, and school buses are among the items that are exempt from all limitations.

Private buses transporting passengers into and out of Mumbai as well as other heavy vehicles, even those exempt from the rule, should park in their own or rented spots or on designated “Pay and Park Spaces.” The Mumbai Traffic Police issued a warning saying that parking these vehicles on the street is prohibited on any road.

For security for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, elaborate traffic arrangements have been arranged, and more than 13,750 police officers will be stationed in Mumbai.

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable Ganpati festival celebration in the city, more than 13,750 police officers would be stationed around Mumbai, according to the police. The group includes 15 Deputy Commissioners, 2,024 officers with the ranks of Sub Inspector through Assistant Commissioner, and 11,726 constables.

On the day of Immersion, more police officers will be stationed locally, and specifics regarding the number of officers will be released separately.
