The journey of FlixBus started in 2011, and by now, this company has spread its operations in more than 40 countries, operating intercity bus services. The operations of the company are across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. FlixBus is famous for its cheap travel solutions, thus gaining immense popularity among travellers around the world.

FlixBus entered India in February 2024. The company chose Delhi as its first hub in the country. To set up its operation, the company tied up with five local bus operators in Delhi. At its starting stages, it connected 46 cities in northern India. Its network included significant places like Ayodhya, Lucknow, Dehradun, Manali, and Jodhpur. This was followed by announcements regarding their expansion toward southern India.

The company strategy for South India is to operate in partnership with local bus operators. The company believes that the partner model will support growth in the region for FlixBus. The company will, therefore, have to collaborate with regional operators that will help the company in smooth and efficient delivery of its services.
