Dresden’s Carola Bridge Collapsed Partially

Taking to X, Justus.l (@Justus_Lineman) shared a picture of the bridge’s collapse.

Teams of concerned officials rushed to the spot after the news of the major destruction broke out. Following the collapse of the concrete bridge, it was closed immediately. Carola Bridge is a key connectivity between the Old Town and New Town in Dresden. With its closure, people faced issues in commuting efficiently on Wednesday. Multiple parts of the city reported traffic problems. From boats to trams, the sudden closure led to traffic disruption in the city.

No one sustained any injuries due to the partial collapse of the decades-old Carola Bridge. Police have already started investigating the unexpected incident to find whether any particular reason triggered a section of the establishment crumbling down in the river. According to a report by dpa German Press Agency, the authorities are considering the collapse as an accident only. They have not witnessed anything unusual yet.

Carola Bridge is a crucial connection for pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists. The recent news of the collapse turned into quite a mishap for commuters because of the halt of transportation services. According to a report by Hindustan Times, vessels for sightseeing reported disruptions in smooth operations. A fire department spokesman shared that two large district heating pipes bursted. The smooth supply of hot water is being affected in the entire city due to this issue. Also, traffic disruptions are likely in places.
