Germany is quickly becoming the go-to European destination for Indian travellers. With a sharp rise in visa applications, increased flight frequencies, and tailored travel experiences, the country is witnessing a tourism boom like never before.

In recent months, Germany’s tourism for Indian travellers has skyrocketed. According to the German National Tourist Office (GNTO), Indian overnight stays in Germany increased by 8.6% in 2024, jumping from 826,703 in 2023 to 897,841. This trend shows no signs of slowing in 2025.

Flight connectivity between India and Germany has also improved drastically. As of January 2025, the number of flights rose by 28% compared to 2019 levels, up from 241 to 309. Alongside this, visa applications from India saw a 20% spike in the first quarter of the year.

Travel experts attribute the rise to Germany’s seamless visa process, strong airline partnerships, and the growing desire among Indian tourists to explore offbeat destinations in Europe.

The surge in German tourism for Indian travellers is also supported by customised experiences. The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has developed packages that appeal to nature lovers, couples, families, and eco-conscious tourists. These itineraries include everything from scenic countryside getaways to immersive cultural trails.
