It was recently announced at the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023 is all set to make its return to the city this September. Yes, the fair will be launched by the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission at its new headquarters. Yes, this will be at King Saud University and will happen between September 28 to October 7, according to a report by the Arab News. However, it’s worth mentioning that the upcoming fair will feature over 200 events, which will include everything from poetry evenings and workshops to even seminars.
Since a large area will be dedicated to young readers, there will also be musical events and even local and international theatrical performances that are certainly going to draw crowds. It should be noted that the fair has been titled ‘An Inspiring Destination’ and it will be the largest in the Kingdom and the Arab world when it comes to the diversity of cultural programmes and the range of activities.

At this point it should be revealed that the previous fares have attracted enthusiastic participation from cultural bodies, publishing houses, and institutions, thereby presenting a myriad of publications and titles to over a million visitors. Some highlights to look out for this year include –
- Booktalk Segment – This will feature influential authors and thinkers who will be discussing aspects of contemporary culture.
- Book Signing Space – Here, the leaders will get to meet their favourite authors and interact with them.
- A corner for self-published authors – With more than 400 titles on display, this corner will help nurture young Saudi talents.
- Poetry Recitation Competition – Happening for the first time, this competition will be held for children, thereby encouraging them to indulge in the art of poetry writing and recitation.
