According to Deccan Herald, a private Gulfstream G200 plane crashed on the runway at La Romana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. The aircraft was attempting to land when it crashed and burst into flames. According to the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), both the pilot and co-pilot died in the accident.
Visuals circulating on social media show the aircraft struggling to land before veering off the runway and catching fire. The plane was reportedly returning to the airport due to technical issues and crashed while attempting an emergency landing. An emergency was declared approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana Airport. However, the exact cause that prompted the emergency landing has not yet been disclosed.

As per NDTV, the US-registered private plane was en route to Austin, Texas, from the Dominican Republic. US media reported severe mechanical problems could have prompted the emergency landing, which resulted in a crash during touchdown and the plane going up in flames.
IDAC took to X and wrote, “Aviation authorities activated the corresponding protocols and are conducting the necessary investigations to determine the causes of the incident. Both the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Commission will provide additional information as the investigation progresses.”
