Brampton’s skyline has a new spiritual landmark! On September 6, a towering 54-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva was unveiled in the Canadian city, drawing attention from devotees and locals alike. The magnificent structure not only adds cultural significance but also highlights the growing presence of Indian heritage abroad.

Canada’s Brampton Is Now Home To 54 Ft Lord Shiva Statue

According to the Brampton Guardian, over the last weekend, Brampton’s Bhavani Shankar Mandir unveiled a 54-foot-tall statue of the Hindu deity, Lord Shiva. Said to be the tallest of its kind in North America, the magnificent idol was crafted by artist Naresh Kumar Kumawat, who spent nearly two years bringing it to life.

Naresh is also the artist behind the towering statue of Lord Hanuman at the Sabha Mandir in Brampton, and the 51-foot statue of Lord Ram in Mississauga, which was unveiled earlier in August.

Before the 54-ft-tall statue of Lord Shiva was unveiled in Brampton, a sea of devotees carried out a ‘Rath Yatra’ to reach the temple premises. The parade was a part of the opening and consecration ceremony. Once there, the statue was finally unveiled amidst loud chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’.

Massive Ram Statue In Mississauga

Before the 54-ft-tall statue of Lord Shiva added a spiritual touch to Brampton’s skyline, the Indian diaspora in Canada experienced another spiritual high in August. A 51-foot statue of Lord Ram was inaugurated at the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga just a month ago. The fibreglass idol stands as a spiritual and cultural landmark in the region and was unveiled amidst thousands of devotees.

The statue was inspired by India’s Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and was built in over four years. According to The Times of India, parts of the massive idol were also built in Delhi. This idol is so massive that passengers landing at the Toronto Pearson International Airport can witness its magnificence from the aircraft itself.
