In a recent development, the Government of Goa and the Department of Tourism are urging all local taxi operators in the state to integrate with state-backed digital taxi platforms such as the Goa Taxi App and GoaMiles. The government has taken this step to promote smart mobility, economic inclusion, transparency in fares, and to make Goa more tourist-friendly.

Goa Taxi App, a government-regulated digital platform for booking cabs, was introduced in the state to ensure fair pricing, efficiency, and safety. A state, which already has a thriving tourist ecosystem, needs a more systematic mobility which can be convenient to both the passengers and the taxi operators.

Recognising this, the government is now urging all local taxi operators to integrate with this system. As per a press release, Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, stated, “The Goa Taxi App is not just a convenience tool; it represents a larger shift toward inclusive growth, safer commuting, and a more structured tourism experience. We urge all Goan taxi brothers to come on board and make use of this free, government-supported platform that is designed especially to benefit them. It is not only about convenience for tourists but about creating more sustainable livelihood opportunities for our local communities.”

Goa Taxi App was first launched at Manohar International Airport in January 2023 and later expanded to Margao Railway Station in October 2023.  The app has since ensured complete convenience for passengers. It offers real-time tracking, dynamic fare calculations based on notified rates, integration with Google Maps, and multiple payment options. The platform not only benefits passengers through transparent services, but is also beneficial for drivers. Highly-rated drivers not only get more bookings, but the convenience fees are also reinvested in their welfare schemes.

Whereas, GoaMiles, which operates under the supervision of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), remains a trusted app-based aggregator. Since its launch in 2018, GoaMiles has been a cost-effective and reliable option for all tourists.

Tourist-Friendly Travel Solutions

Both these apps have facilitated over 70,000 rides and onboarded more than 1,000 drivers in just over a year. These platforms not only offer tourist-friendly fares but also ensure fair compensation aligned with government-notified rates. Features like digital ratings and real-time monitoring also make them more technically advanced.
