However, if you are planning to take a road trip for your vacation, then you will certainly want to know about all the important documentation that you will need for a seamless experience. This is especially true for those people who are planning to take a road trip outside the UAE. So, whether you are a UAE citizen or an expatriate, you will want to obtain the Tourist Vehicle Certificate and we are here to tell you all about it.
What Is A Tourist Vehicle Certificate?
For those who aren’t aware, a tourist vehicle certificate is a document that allows a seamless travel experience for drivers. Yes, it validates the vehicle’s compliance with safety and regulatory standards while also granting the person holding the certificate, the right to travel across the state lines. So, as reported in a story by Khaleej Times, it’s important that one holds an international driving licence while also making sure that all the documentation is in place.
It’s worth noting that this vehicle certificate allows people to travel to and from the UAE in a registered vehicle across the GCC. However, before you apply, it’s important that you need to ensure your eligibility for the same. You need to be a UAE citizen, GCC national, resident, company, governmental entity, diplomat, or diplomatic body in Dubai to be eligible to apply for the service. At this point, one should note that the validity of the certificate is six months.
What About The Fee?
So, if you are also wondering about the service fee in Dubai, it varies across the type of vehicle you are registering. The service fees for different types of vehicles are as follows –
- Light vehicle: AED100
- Motorcycle: AED100
- Vehicle between 3 and 12 tonnes: AED100
- Vehicle exceeding 12 tonnes: AED200
- Light mechanical equipment: AED100
- Heavy mechanical equipment: AED200
- Bus with a number of passengers between 14 and 26: AED100
- Bus with a number of passengers exceeding 26: AED200
- Knowledge and Innovation fees: AED20

What About Documents?
If you have found yourself scrolling all the way down here, chances are that you already know the kind of vehicle you are planning to get registered. However, it’s equally important to know all the required documents you will need during the application process. At the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, whether you are a citizen or a GCC country national, you will be required to submit the following documents –
- If the vehicle is mortgaged, then you’ll need an eNOC from the mortgagor
- Don’t forget about your original Emirates ID
- You will need an eNOC from the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), (besides the citizens, GCC countries nationals, and diplomatic & governmental corps, who want to use their vehicles within GCC countries)
If you are a resident, you will be required to submit these documents –
- If the vehicle is mortgaged, you will need an eNOC from the mortgagor
- You will need an eNOC from the ATCUAE
It should be noted that one can apply for a vehicle permit through the RTA website and can also visit the customer happiness centres across the emirate. Not to mention, these certificates are issued in 23 vehicle registration and inspection centres.
