Third Stretch Of The Samruddhi Mahamarg Set To Open On March 4
In some good news for people in Maharashtra, another stretch on the Samruddhi Mahamarg will be open to public use. According to an official from Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), the 25-kilometre stretch connecting Bharvir and Igatpuri town will finally be open from March 4. Due to some minor work, this opening got delayed and was earlier supposed to open by mid-February.
This will make it the third operational stretch on the massive expressway linking Nagpur and Mumbai. In December 2022, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 520-kilometre stretch between Nagpur and Shirdi on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. A few months later in May 2023, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde inaugurated another stretch between Shirdi and Bharvir.

Key Features Of This Soon-To-Be-Inaugurated Stretch
The partially open Samruddhi Mahamarg is about 701 kilometres long and is amongst India’s longest greenfield road projects to date. Of this, around 600 kilometres of this expressway are already open to the public. Connecting Mumbai and Nagpur, the expressway will also contribute substantially to the socio-economic growth of Maharashtra.
The new 25-kilometre stretch is said to be one of the most complex parts of this expressway. It will feature a combination of a flyover, a vehicular over bridge (VOB), several bridges, 300-metre-long twin tunnels, and a crossing of the old Mumbai Nashik Highway.
We are glad that this stretch is finally opening for the public. Here’s hoping the entire expressway becomes operational super soon!
