Metro systems are part of a well-connected transportation system in metropolitan cities that makes travelling convenient and saves time. From bus stations to railway stations, all other transport facilities are also reachable through the metro in the majority of cities. Bengaluru has made a much-needed announcement to expand their metro lines. According to M. Maheshwar Rao, Managing Director of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the Kempegowda International Airport Terminal-Hebbal segment of the Blue Line is scheduled to open by the middle of 2026.

As reported by Moneycontrol, M. Maheshwar Rao mentioned that the Hebbal-KR Puram length is probably going to follow by December 2026, and the international airport to the Hebbal portion is anticipated to be operational between June and September 2026.
Airport-bound travellers are anticipated to gain from the move since it will enable them to take the airport metro line from Hebbal, avoiding toll costs associated with road travel.
The Embassy Group has agreed to finance the building of the Bettahalasur Metro station, which is expected to cost ₹140 crore in 2020, and talks are now underway, as reported by Moneycontrol.
After cancelling earlier tenders for architectural finishing works for stations, BMRCL has not issued any new ones, and civil construction at Chikkajala and next to the IAF station in Yelahanka is moving slowly forward.
Metro Growth Plans In Bengaluru
After receiving approval from the state Finance Department, Bengaluru is scheduled to open a new metro line that will connect Sarjapur and Hebbal through the city centre. By the end of this month, the state cabinet will get a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Namma Metro’s Phase 3A, a 36.59-kilometre line that connects southern and northern Bengaluru, as reported by Hindustan Times.
DK Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, stated earlier this year that Phase 2 of the Namma Metro project would be finished by 2025. He also urged BMRCL authorities to quicken the construction of metro lines on airport routes.
The Blue Line is a 30-station elevated route that includes two underground segments close to Jakkur Aerodrome and Yelahanka Air Force Base, as well as an at-grade section close to the airport.
