In a move that is being considered groundbreaking, Kenya has scrapped the mandate of acquiring a Visa. According to an article which was recently published by The Economic Times, this move is undertaken in order to boost economic growth and encourage travel within the country. In an announcement made by William Ruto, who is the president of Kenya, the news was made public.

He said that it was no longer required of anyone in the world to bear the burden of applying for a visa if they wanted to come to Kenya. In its stead, the government has made available a digital platform which will let people obtain an electronic travel authorisation or an eta. This will significantly boost the speed of the entry process to the country.

It is also believed that this move will encourage trade as well as tourism in this East African country. Kenya’s embracing of the open-door policy will also help in significantly boosting their economy. The lack of a visa requirement makes the country a more attractive destination to visit for tourists and explorers alike.

Kenya had initially removed visa requirements for other African countries which were a part of the AU or the African Union. It is not the first time that this has happened either. Before Kenya, countries like Benin and Seychelles as well as Gambia scrapped the requirement of Visa for all. Kenya is, therefore, the fourth country to pass such a rule.
